Rick is a nationally-published artist in collections worldwide, painting for more than 30 years. His minimalist, contemporary style of landscape is widely associated with Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and coastal Maine.        

He is currently working on a new series of paintings of the Berkshires in 2026.

He’s had solo exhibitions at the Cape Cod Museum of Art and the Copley Society of Art, Boston, as well as featured exhibitions at the  Provincetown Art Association and Museum, The Cahoon Museum of American Art, The Cotuit Center for the Arts, The Harvard Club of Boston, the Boston International Fine Art Show, and Art & Design, Boston. He is a Lifetime Member of Boston's Copley Society of Art, Co|So, the oldest non-profit art association in the United States.

His work is in the permanent collections of Cape Cod Museum of Art, Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Cahoon Museum of American Art, Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Center, Cape Cod Hospital/Cape Cod Healthcare, Bessemer Trust Company, N.A., Ritz-Carlton Hotels, John Hancock, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and other corporate and private collections worldwide. He served on the faculties of the the Provincetown Art Association and Museum School, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, and has done numerous workshops through The Creative Arts Center, Chatham, the Copley Society of Art, Boston, and at his studio.

As a former journalist and PR/marketing executive, he has served as a staff writer to the Vineyard Gazette, Martha's Vineyard, and as a correspondent to the Cape Cod Times and The Boston Globe.  His writing has also appeared in the The New York Times, The Village Voice, and Adweek's Brandweek.  As a public relations professional, he headed his own firm in Boston for several years, before becoming a creative director and vice president for two of New York's top public relations/advertising/marketing communications firms.

He is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, School of Journalism, and has studied at the Arts Students League of New York, Provincetown's Fine Arts Work Center, and post-graduate studies at New York University.

He lives and works in the Berkshires, in North Adams, Massachusetts.

Artist Statement    

The landscape in its purest form – untouched, and uninterrupted, by man.  I am drawn to the essence of a moment’s beauty: the rare light as it moves across a meadow, the shadows or reflections it leaves behind; the subtle variations of color as they change with the seasons and time of day;  the movement of grasses, water and sand; the solitude of a wandering low tide.   Ever inspired by the coast and landscape, I am always looking for new and interesting ways to capture its beauty, and push to find new ways in terms of palette and brushstroke, content and emotion.
